SSSS staff meets Archbishop & Montfort brothers

On 28th January 2021, SSSS staff met His Grace Archbishop Thomas Macwan, Vicar General Fr. Teles Fernandes along with four Mont Fort Brothers and their provincial. Initially all the projects were presented to them by SSSS staff through power point and then Fr. Xavier James briefed them about the Archdiocese of Gandhinagar and the social work intervention in the Archdiocese. He encouraged the brothers to come and begin their apostolate in the Archdiocese. Thereafter a handbook on health in Gujarati was released by Br. Provincial and handed over to His Grace Archbishop Thomas. They all applauded SSSS staff for their good team work.

SSSS updates

 SSSS moves ahead

SSSS organized health training programme for village health animators on preparation of nutritious food, which was attended by health workers and fathers from Palanpur, Vadgam, Kheralu and Deesa. On 16th December 2020, Women’s cooperative meeting was held at St. Xavier’s School, Mandali. This was the official meeting after the registration of the cooperative with district registrar. On the same day certificates were distributed to participants who had completed beautician training for two months. This will help them to stand on their own feet.

Christmas 2020 at SSSS

The staff of SSSS with great eagerness await for Christmas celebration. There is so much excitement in preparation and celebration of Christmas among SSSS staff every year although most of them profess different faith. 2020 has been a corona lockdown year, still with much enthusiasm SSSS staff prepared crib both in the pastoral centre and Archbishop’s house. They had lot of group dynamics during preparation of stars, crib and decoration. On 24th December 2020, all SSSS staff came in special costumes and went to the Archbishop’s  house to greet the Archbishop and Fr. Britto with Carols and then His Grace Archbishop inaugurated the Crib. Thereafter together with Archbishop, the staff proceeded to the Pastoral Centre with carols and His Grace Archbishop Thomas inaugurated and blessed the crib at the Pastoral centre. After the Holy Eucharist all enjoyed group games and gathered together for fellowship Christmas meal. Then all left for Christmas holidays to refresh themselves.  

Reaching out to persons with disabilities and meeting the officials

It was a great opportunity to meet many persons with disabilities during the visit of Mr. Reddy from CBR Forum. SSSS staff along with the director and Mr. Reddy visited persons with disabilities at Pethapur, Ankol, Vavol, Vasan, Dameda villages. They distributed wheel chairs to 3 beneficiaries in Gandhinagar and disability certificates to 10 persons in Mehsana. They met government officials who are helping in this programme such as medical superintendent, Orthopedic surgeon, Social Defense Officer, Social Welfare Officer, fathers and sisters who render help in reaching out to differently abled persons.  (Xavier James)
