Holy Week in Palanpur Parish
The
Palm Sunday had a huge gathering of the people for the blessing of Palms and procession
from boarding to the Church. After the Holy Eucharist, a short meeting of the
parishioners took place to finalize the lectors and proclaimers. The RJM
sisters, Fr. Sonu with boarding boys, Haribhai with the choir were preparing
for the Sacred Triduum. On Maundy Thursday 6 men and 6 women took the place of
the apostles for the washing of the feet. They joined the entrance procession
and lit the lamp. They also joined the procession of the transfer of the
most holy Sacrament. Scholastics Alam, Jopson came from Vidhya Jyoti, Delhi who
belong to Gujarat Jesuits joined the celebration and gave the introduction to
the Sacred Liturgy.
On
Good Friday soon after the stations of the Cross, Swadhya Parivar came and read
the message of their didi and sang a song. The celebration of the Passion of
our Lord took place at 3 pm with the presence of large faithful and boarding
children. After the celebration all shared Kanji, which was prepared by the
faithful.
The
Easter Vigil service began at 10.30 pm in front of the Church for the service
of the light. All people participated vibrantly in the service. After the
Easter Mass cake, Coffee, egg were served to all.
On
Easter Sunday the Holy Eucharist was celebrated in the morning followed by the
Easter blessing of homes commenced.
