World Disability day rally in Gandhinagar by SSSS

World Day of disability Rally in Gandhinagar

International day of persons with disabilities was celebrated in Gandhinagar Archdiocese on 3^rd December 2019. In commemoration to mark the World Disability day, a rally was held at St. Xavier’s School, Gandhinagar. His Grace Archbishop Thomas Macwan, Metropolitan Archbishop of Gandhinagar flagged off the rally which was for half an hour. On reaching St. Xavier’s School campus, Mr. Victor Mecwan, IAS and His Grace Archbishop spoke and encouraged the persons with disabilities to do their best and grab the government entitlements. 100 Children and staff from Gandhinagar blind school and deaf and mute school were overjoyed as many people came to show their solidarity with them. SSSS staff did a wonderful work with the support of Fr. Cruz, Principal of St. Xavier’s School, Gandhinagar.  

   

SSSS health & women animators’ meeting at Pethapur

On 9^th and 10^th December 2019, Animators of Sabarmati Samruddhi Seva Sangh had gathered at Jeevan Vikas Kendra, Pethapur for Documentation and book keeping workshop and Review and planning meeting. On the first day, Mr. Vaibhav & Mr. Jaifin helped the animators and volunteers of women’s cooperatives to write the documents and keep them uptodate. On the second day, Ms. Sharmila and Mr. Anil animated the review and planning meeting for health workers. Fr. Xavier asked both the group to write their daily diary so to be so efficient and professional. 10 MSW students from Mehsana and Randheja colleges participated in the training programmes and felt it to be very informative and acquired much knowledge by interacting with the women.

Caritas India Meeting

Caritas India had organized two days’ meeting to evaluate the ongoing project named ‘Sanjivini’ and to write new project proposal at Hansol, Ahmedabad on 18^th & 19^th November 2019. All the four dioceses have participated with bishops, directors and animators. Fr. Jolly, Assistant Executive director of Caritas India, Dr. Saju and Mr. Nirmal Minj were present for the meeting. All the dioceses presented their reports and Caritas India was very happy and acknowledged the hard work of each diocese. They assured to support us with the same project for another year.

International Children’s Day Celebration

A week day long children’s day celebration began on 14^th November 2019 and ended on 21^st November 2019. Child line 1098 of SSSS staff had organized several programmes in the schools and slums such as story telling, rangoli, drawing, painting, quiz competitions etc. The culmination was with cutting of cake with the Superintendent of Police of Gandhinagar district and children. Ms. Teresa Benedict from Child India Foundation also was present for the event.   

CBRF Meeting

Collective Basic Right Foundation had its evaluation meeting at SSSS, Pethapur on 25^th, 26^th, 27^th November 2019. SSSS staff, animators and volunteers from different parishes participated in it. Mr. Kabui was the resource person for it. As the Archdiocese, we have resolved to cater to persons with 21 types of disabilities. Hence, basic survey was taken wherever SSSS projects are running right now and gradually will move to cover the whole Archdiocese. The aim is to include persons with disabilities in our parishes, schools and in all our works. We have also planned to celebrate ‘World Disability day’ on 3^rd December 2019 in Gandhinagar city.
