Our experience with COVID 19
As Corona Virus pandemic was spreading, SSSS team was going
to the neighbourhood and conducting awareness on prevention and cleanliness. On
20th March 2020, We bought preventive materials worth of two lakhs
and went to the whole Archdiocese to all the parishes to distribute them, after
obtaining government permissions. Soon after, we quickly surveyed the diocese
with the help of Staff, Fathers, Sisters and provided food grains which would
survive a family for a month. This action was repeatedly done in April, May,
June. Lastly we reached out to the migrants who were walking to their homes to
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh with essential materials for their
journey and also people travelling to Tamilnadu, Kerala by bus.
Amidst all these circumstances, we could experience
the prompting of the Spirit of God to reach out to the people in need and also
safe guard ourselves. God in his providence provided financial support through
various well-wishers who were so overjoyed to see how their contribution was utilized.
Practically every day our benefactors, government officials were updated about
the services of SSSS.
The Eucharistic Lord was guiding the whole team in an
amazing way. Every outreach was planned and carried out after offering to the
Eucharistic Lord. It indeed bore fruit. It gave much satisfactions when we
could see the smile and joy in those needy, poor, widows, orphans, disabled
people. God has used SSSS team as His instrument to reach out to the vulnerable
during this pandemic. I want to thank my Mother and our Archbishop for
constantly encouraging and praying for us. When many friends of mine were infusing
fear due to the seriousness of this pandemic and personal safety, my Mother and
our Archbishop were extraordinarily encouraging and praying for the whole team.
I thank the whole Archdiocese, well-wishers for your prayers and support during
this hard time of crisis. (Xavier James)
