Radhanpur Parish Priest Fr. Michael reaches out to the
marginalized
Fr. Antony Michael Raj, the Parish Priest of Radhanpur
reached out to twenty poor families during COVID-19 with essential ration. He
helped them with rice, dal, oil, spices, sugar and tea. After obtaining
permission from the Mamaldar (Thehsildar, Block Officer) for his mobility he
went to the periphery of the society in the villages of Sinad, Jawaharnagar,
Kunthsari, Sardarpura, Tumdi and Porana. He is planning to reach out to 600
families of Migrants, Vegetable Vendors and daily wagers. May God bless his brave
act of mercy in this vicinity. (Fr. Xavier James)
SSSS Reaches out through partners during COVID-19
As Sabarmati Samruddhi Seva Sangh, Gandhinagar staff
reached the Corona Virus preventive materials to different parishes of the
Archdiocese, our sisters and other staff set out for awareness programmes and
distribution of the same into interior villages and towns. Srs. Nirmala &
Angel went around Ramosana village near Mehsana and distributed masks, gloves,
sanitizer and liquid hand wash. Fr. Michael distributed these items in the
villages of Radhanpur parish. Srs. Vincy & Smita distributed them around
Kalol villages.
SSSS staff Jaifin Dund & Jeshodaben went around
Raypur, Dodisara Jesingpur of Bhiloda parish and made people aware of the
seriousness of Corona virus spread and distributed the relief materials. Kudos
to all.
Catholic means Universal
The Catholic community in Gandhinagar has really understood
what is the meaning of being a Catholic, a universal person. This means that
Catholic is for all people of all walks of life. Wherever there is a suffering
humanity, there is the feeling of he is my brother and she is my sister and
there is a natural urge to be of some help to such people. Having understood
this, not only institutions but even individuals have helped the suffering
human beings such as migrant workers, poor daily wagers with daily food during
Corona Virus crisis. We would like to state some persons Mr. Chandravadan
Mecwan who helps many people for their daily survival. Mr. Hasmukh Macwan who
caters to the poor and police men and women with tea, coffee, biscuits,
kitchadi. Ms. Urvashi Dabhi who goes around distributing cooked food for many
needy people and also provides grocery kits for the poor families. We are
really proud of our Catholic Community. I have stated only few instances whose
knowledge I know but there are unknown Catholic Good Samaritans who really work
for the welfare of the suffering humanity during COVID-19 crisis. (Fr. Xavier
James, Director, SSSS, Gandhinagar)
