Archbishop's visit & SSSS Disability Camp

 His Grace Archbishop visits SSSS Sangath Project

On 2nd September 2023, His Grace Archbishop Thomas Macwan, Fr. Xavier James, SSSS staff, MSW internship students from Mehsana college visited Khiloda where women empowerment programme is empowered with skill training on tailoring and embroidery. Frs. Martin, Michael, Srs. Prafulla, Shantilang together with the women welcomed our beloved Archbishop and SSSS staff. Madhuben and Parvatiben briefed them about the various training and the status of women’s cooperative society. Thereafter, His Grace Archbishop distributed certificates to women who successfully completed the training. Then he thanked all who helped the women and encouraged the women to stand on their own feet.

After that, they visited Pahadiya where His Grace Archbishop and SSSS staff were welcomed by Frs. Kanti, Kamji, Srs. Alosiya, Selin, Juliet and the women who are undergoing tailoring and embroidery training. Sitaben briefed about the cooperative society and the trainings. On hearing, His Grace Archbishop appreciated the women and thanked all those who helped the women and wished great progress in their role as mother and wife and leader.

After paying usual homage to Our Lady of Guadalupe at Kadwath, they proceeded to Nanakanthariya. Srs. Selvi, Asuntha welcomed His Grace Archbishop and SSSS staff together with women. Vanitaben updated about the trainings on tailoring and embroidery. She also informed about the cooperative society. His Grace Archbishop after giving away the certificates thanked SSSS Director, Staff and Sisters who helped the women immensely. He encouraged the women as they pursue in better business to be economically independent. 

Distribution of aids and appliances to differently abled persons

SSSS staff assisted 1820 persons with disabilities in obtaining their documents and uploading for disability certificates after which they were taken to civil hospitals by SSSS staff and volunteers for examination by various doctors in different departments. Thereafter they received their disability certificates from the government with UDID. SSSS has been closely working with Blind People’s Association, Ahmedabad. Mr. Bharat Joshi introduced to SSSS a generous funding agency named Voice of Specially Abled Persons. Voice of SAP is founded and managed by Mr. Pranav Desai in USA, who generously helps persons with disabilities. SSSS staff collected the documents of persons with disabilities and uploaded them and after personal verification with the beneficiaries they grant the request of the persons with disabilities.

On 3rd September 2023, His Grace Archbishop Thomas Macwan, Fr. Teles Fernandes, Vicar General and SSSS Director and Staff along with BPA and Voice of SAP staff reached out to 21 persons with disabilities from Gandhinagar district. Beneficiaries were given sewing machines, tricycles, wheel chairs, sensor walking sticks, beautician kits, smart phones by His Grace Archbishop with the generosity of Voice of SAP. Our beloved Archbishop thanked the Voice of SAP and SSSS staff for linking with likeminded groups to reach out to less privileged and marginalized people. He encouraged the differently abled saying that ‘we are all with you and we care for you’. SSSS is grateful to His Grace Archbishop, Frs. Teles Fernandes, Mr. Rohit Shah, Mr. Kalpesh Shah, Mr. Dhruv, Ms. Niyati and Mr. Pranav Desai for their presence and generosity.

On 5th September 2023, SSSS reached out to 23 persons with disabilities in Palanpur from Banaskantha and Sabarkantha districts. SSSS staff, together with Fr. Julian from Virampur, Mukesh Dabhi from Poshina were instrumental in giving away tricycles, wheel chairs, smart phones, sensor walking sticks, sewing machines. SSSS is grateful to Mr. Vanraj Chavda, Mr. Dhruv Chavda, Ms. Niyati Shah, Mr. Pranav Desai for their generosity. SSSS is thankful to Frs. Salvador, Shaiji for their generous support.
